Transitional kindergarten is a magical time in a child's life. Everything is new, and interesting, and full of wonder.
In Transitional Kindergarten (TK), my goal is to inspire children to become life long learners, to embrace their own curiosity and creativity.
In my classroom we follow the motto: "Do unto others what you would have them do unto you." Every day the children inspire me to be a better teacher, and I hope I inspire them to follow their dreams.
This website will give you a glimpse into some of my favorite activities during the TK school year, along with a few guidelines for our academic goals.
The information here is not comprehensive, because every year my students inspire me to imagine possibilites with them, therefore no two school years ever look exactly alike. Welcome to the great adventure I call TK, a "kind-er" way to learn.
Shouldn't the whole world be more like Transitional Kindergarten? Where we laugh and play a bit, and share and work a bit. And we savor the little things that make us smile? Why grow up?
How We Learn
Our classroom is a busy place because I believe children learn in a wide variety of ways.
Sometimes we are quiet. Sometimes we are loud. And everyday we play.
Children learn through play. If you come and visit our classroom, you may see a variety of learning centers active at the same time: -Art -Fine Motor Skills -Pocket Chart -Word Work/Write the Room -Reading and Book Reports -Dramatic Play -Creative Writing -iPads
I want to provide for every learner, therefore we learn through all of our five senses, and we learn using Multiple Intelligences as identified by Howard Gardner's learning theory: verbal, mathmatical, visual and spatial, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal/intrapersonal, and naturalist
